Abstract
Cancer is a multifactorial disease, among the existing types, the most affected among women is breast cancer. One of the side effects manifested in the disease is increased anxiety levels during hormone therapy treatment. The aim of the study is to analyze the level of anxiety in women breast cancer survivors. The study included 44 women survivors of breast cancer (age: 58.67 ± 6.08 years). Anxiety was assessed using the STAI, which is divided into STAI-State and STAI-Trait, which consists of 20 questions in each type of questionnaire. The IDATE classification is classified as: low from 20 to 34 points; moderate 35 to 49 points; high or severe from 50 to 64 points; Very high or panic: 65 to 80 points. The inclusion criteria were being menopausal and not participating in any regular resistance exercise program in the last 6 months, having undergone mastectomy or breast quadrantectomy, and not metastasizing the group. The normality of the data was assessed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Descriptive data were performed with the mean and standard deviation to classify anxiety levels. The results showed that the mean STAI-State anxiety was 42.1 ± 11.7 points and the STAI-Trait was 45.0 ± 11.6 points. We conclude that the anxiety of women breast cancer survivors was moderate in both STAI-State and STAI-Trait.
