Gynecologic Oncology

The Gynecologic Oncology session will provide an in-depth exploration of the latest developments, research, and clinical practices in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancers affecting the female reproductive system, including ovarian, cervical, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. The session will cover:

Epidemiology and Risk Factors: Examination of the epidemiological trends in gynecologic cancers, including the role of genetic predispositions, environmental factors, and lifestyle choices. Discussions will highlight advancements in understanding the etiology and risk factors, such as the impact of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in cervical cancer and the role of BRCA mutations in ovarian cancer.

Screening and Early Detection: Focus on improving early detection through innovative screening methods, such as liquid biopsy, HPV testing, and advances in imaging techniques. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of early diagnosis in improving prognosis and survival rates, with discussions on emerging biomarkers and their potential role in non-invasive screening.

Advancements in Surgical Oncology: Overview of cutting-edge surgical techniques, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgeries, aimed at improving patient outcomes and reducing recovery times. The session will discuss the latest in fertility-sparing procedures, lymph node assessment, and debulking surgeries for advanced-stage cancers.

Medical Oncology and Therapeutics: Updates on the latest chemotherapy regimens, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies. Presentations will focus on the role of PARP inhibitors in ovarian cancer, checkpoint inhibitors in endometrial cancer, and the integration of personalized medicine approaches in treatment planning. The session will also explore the management of chemotherapy-resistant cancers and the use of combination therapies to overcome resistance.

Radiation Oncology: Insights into the latest advancements in radiation therapy, including Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), brachytherapy, and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT). Discussions will center on the role of radiation in curative and palliative care, as well as its integration with other treatment modalities.

Survivorship and Quality of Life: Addressing the long-term care of gynecologic cancer survivors, with a focus on managing the physical, emotional, and psychological impacts of cancer treatment. Topics will include strategies for dealing with treatment-related side effects, fertility preservation, sexual health, and psychosocial support.
