Title: Case report– Rare case of a primary amenorrhoea with female phenotype and gonadal dysgenesis

Abstract

A 16yr girl presented with primary amennorhoea and her clinical secondary sexual characters were partially developed, with normal stature, along breast development of Tanner’s 3 stage, absence of pubic and axillary hair, normal external female genitalia with labia, clitoris. Though clinically, phenotype of  turners syndrome was provisionally diagnosed, on cytogenetic study of her blood sample karyotype of dysgenesis.  With improved education, social status and knowledge we are now observing more and better understanding among the families as the concern of abnormal gonads like dysgenesis or cancer or other complications are known and hence their approach towards diagnosis, evaluation, treatment and followup has been improving.

Biography

V Harshini has completed her MBBS, MS (OBG) from Manipal University and has published more than 20 research works in various prestigious national and international journals.  She is also an editorial board member of the Indian Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, reviewer for various international journals. She has presented 6 papers at the International Conference of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has been successfully practicing in Banglore and is known for dealing with emergency and complicated obstetrics and gynecology surgeries.
