Broad ligament hematoma: A rare complication of cesarean section
Abstract
Broad ligament hematomas are uncommon but potentially serious complications that can occur intraoperatively during cesarean sections, particularly in patients with a history of previous surgeries. We present a case of a broad ligament hematoma formed intraoperatively in a 33-year-old multipara during her third cesarean section. The patient had a history of two previous cesarean sections and developed an extensive broad ligament hematoma. Management involved resuscitation of the patient, followed by hematoma evacuation and systemic devascularization. This case highlights the challenges and successful management strategies for intraoperative broad ligament hematomas in patients with multiple previous cesarean sections.
