The impact of vaginal cosmetic gynecology procedures in healthy women: A systematic review
Abstract
Vaginal cosmetic gynecological treatments, including O/G shots, vulvar lightening, hymenoplasty, clitoral hood reduction, labiaplasty, vaginal laser therapy, and vaginoplasty, have grown in popularity over the last 20 years due to societal influences, psychological factors, and aesthetic preferences. There is still little, conflicting, and ethically debatable scientific data on their efficacy, safety, and long-term effects, despite their growing demand. The purpose of this systematic study is to examine how vaginal cosmetic gynecological procedures affect healthy women's bodies, minds, and sexuality. A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed from 2020 to the present; in this research we use the following MeSH terms: ((((cosmetic gynecology) OR (vaginal cosmetic)) OR (gynecology procedures)) AND (healthy women)). Descriptive, observational, and experimental studies involving healthy women, more especially those assessing vaginal cosmetic gynecological procedures, were required as inclusion criteria; studies were appraised for methodological quality using the PRISMA guidelines and relevant risk-of-bias tools. The updated review data shows that vaginal cosmetic operations significantly enhance sexual function and genital aesthetics, including comfort and sexual satisfaction, as well as improved body image, increased self-esteem, and decreased anxiety about genital appearance, which are among the psychological advantages mentioned. These favorable results demonstrate the multifaceted advantages of vaginal cosmetic gynecology, which combines enhanced physical appearance with better mental health. When carried out by skilled physicians providing tailored treatment, the results validate the safe and efficient function of these interventions. For healthy women, vaginal cosmetic gynecological operations provide significant visual, functional, and psychological advantages that improve overall health and sexual satisfaction; their usage as beneficial alternatives in contemporary gynecological practice is supported by their acceptable safety profile.
