Analysis of the timing of cervical cerclage treatment in pregnant women with cervical insufficiency and the effect on pregnancy outcome
Abstract
Purpose: To analyze how cervical cerclage timing affects pregnancy outcomes in cervical insufficiency (CI) patients.
Methods: 160 CI patients were divided into early (14–18 weeks, n=86) vs. middle (19–27 weeks, n=74) groups, and elective (n=71) vs. emergency (n=89) groups. Pregnancy outcomes were compared.
Results: Early group had lower intrauterine infection (8.14% vs. 71.62%) and late abortion rates (8.14% vs. 63.51%), and higher full-term birth rate (82.56% vs. 21.62%) than middle group (P<0.05). Elective group showed similar advantages over emergency group (P<0.05). No significant differences in preterm birth, Apgar scores, or gestational extension. Hospital stays were shorter in early and elective groups (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Elective cerclage at 14–18 weeks yields better pregnancy outcomes and is clinically recommended.
